Learn more about the Kelly Kettle Stove
The Kelly Kettle Hobo Stove – Small is by far the best hobo stove to make the firebase of your kettle into a wood fire camp stove for outdoor cooking.
Place the small Hobo Stove™ accessory on to the fire base of the ‘Trekker’ Kelly Kettle to create a highly effective wood fired Camp Stove.
- Safe, easy and fun to use: Creates stable cooking surface for pot or fry pan and the fire is safely contained within the unit.
- Fuel efficient: Heat is directed toward the pot or fry pan on the top.
- Works in all weather conditions.
- Uses any solid fuel.
- Compact & Tough: Packs away inside the Kelly Kettle fire-base
Use anytime with or without the Fire Base when you need a surface for cooking. Simply place the Hobo Stove on the ground and build the fire inside
While the Hobo can be used on an aluminium fire base, you run the risk of overheating the aluminium and ruining that base. We recommend the Hobo Stove accessory be used with our Stainless Steel bases.
The small Hobo Stove fits onto the fire-base of the ‘Trekker’ Kettle.

Absolutely all I was hoping for! What an exceptional little accessory for the trekker kettle. JUST what I needed to turn my kettle into a full piece of kit that now HAS to be taken on every trip. The hobo stove is very strong and well made, fits the firebase like a glove, AND provides a stable base for everything from a billy can to a heavy cast iron frying pan. If you want to save space/go a little lighter, you could technically leave the main kettle at home, pack the firebase, hobo stove and nest these inside a pot, that would see you right cooking and boiling water for any length of time, seeing as the stove runs on biomass. I have however found; I have great success by firing the kettle as normal to get a brew on, then when my water is boiled and I’m enjoying a lovely cup of tea, I add the hobo stove to the base and from then on, I can feed the fire with bits of stick or whatever, while cooking anything from toast, to a risotto. Honestly, this little hobo stove has made my Kelly kettle an absolute MUST whenever I go out on a trip. It has meant that I have been able to ditch the fiddly old style cook kit with grill, which if we’re honest wasn’t really up to much. If you’re looking for a new stove, the addition of the hobo stove to the Kelly kettle and a reasonable cook pot or billy can will be the only kit you need to buy for the next 50 years. I know it sounds like I’m gushing, but this new addition is so slick, I can cook whatever I want so easily and have huge amounts of boiling water for tea/to keep clean in camp. I couldn’t recommend this kit more if I tried. Thanks, Patrick, you’ve done a great job.

The Most Useful Accessory by Far! When I’m backpack or kayak camping, I just take the firebase, the hobo stove, and the pot. This combo saves space and it can take a beating. The kettle isn’t heavy… but it’s bulky and fragile. I still love the kettle when I’m car camping, though. And sometimes I make coffee with it in the backyard just for fun… and so my clothes will smell like woodsmoke all day.

Great by itself. I have found this makes a great little Esbit stove used by itself.
