About the Kelly Kettle Trekker
The Kelly Kettle Trekker stainless steel camp kettle boils approximately 20 oz of water at a time – that’s about three 6 oz. mugs of water for camp coffee, tea or hot cocoa. The small Trekker Kelly Kettle will bring water to a boil within a matter of minutes. Perfect lightweight camping kettle for 1-2 people, trekking, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, picnics, fishing. The trekker kettles are ideal for emergency preparedness kits, humanitarian aid stations, or anyone working in the forests or the great outdoors.
Fire base and drawstring carrying bag are included with each Kelly Kettle. The durable stainless steel Firebase inverts up into the bottom of the kettle to make the unit as compact as possible for transport and storage.
The Green Whistle has replaced the Orange stopper on the Kettles and will sound a nice loud whistle to let you know when the water has boiled. Older Kelly Kettles may have an Orange Rubber or Cork Stopper. These MUST ALWAYS be removed before using the kettle. The Kettle must never be boiled with these older stoppers in the spout, but the new camping kettle with whistle can be left in while the water is boiling.

Remember: The Kettle has been designed to boil water extremely fast in all weather conditions using very little fuel. When filled with water, the Kelly Kettle should always be carried upright to avoid any spillage/leakage from the water spout or chimney top.

This is my second Kelly Kettle, after the Base Camp model that has the cork stopper. This Trekker comes with green stopper. Upon inspection, I found no flaws. The welding seams were even and neat. Sheet metal work done precisely. No dent or scratches. What an improvement from the Base Camp model that is over 10 years old, which came with one flaw, a tiny crack above the waterline.I was a little wary at first, but I am glad I bought this. The large Base Camp model was a little too bulky to carry around, and this Trekker is just right for one person’s needs. It’s about the similar size as a 2L soda bottle.The cold water boiled in a few seconds past 4-minute mark. Fuel used was a piece of 8 inch-long, 2X2 pine, chopped to finger size pieces (actually, I used only half of it to bring the filtered water to a boil for tea; be sure to boil for at least 2 min. if you are using the water from a pond or a river). You will be impressed by how little fuel it uses to boil 0.5L of cold water.Because I filled too near the spout, the water boiled over, and in three, short seconds, it doused the fire (I had the stopper off). Since the fire bowl is small, it does not take much water to kill the fire. If you are planning to use the fire bowl for cooking, make sure you under-fill. The Kelly Kettle must be used with water in the tank. The green stopper fits tightly, and I shall test next time to see how much water spews forth through the whistle opening. I want to see if it will keep the fire from being doused if it boils over. (Update: the stopper keeps most of the water away from the fire bowl. Only a minimal amount drips to the lip of the bowl, and it evaporates soon as it lands.) Use the green stopper in the opening, with confidence! The inner sleeve is polished, seen through the spout. The outer surface is brushed steel. Spot welding was done well. I liked the connector ring that hooks the stopper to the chain. Both the chain and the ring exude care and quality. A pleasing improvement on details and overall quality, compared to the Base Camp model which is over 10 years old–it still works so well, however. I think I will be using the Trekker more often from now on. Who knows, I might get the Scout model, too. I just like Kelly Kettle. Extra info: Kelly Kettle Trekker fits over the popular wood gas stoves that are being sold under the brand names such as Lixada, Ohuhu, etc (not intended as product promotion). Their pot supports also fit over Trekker’s fire bowl. Trekker and wood gas stove make a fantastic combo.

Love, love, love this product. Arrived early and exactly what I ordered. Always wanted one of these. A great addition to trips where weight counts ( no hauling fuel) and where open fires are an issue. I ordered the trekker and it holds a surprising amount of water. I also bought the hobo stove cooking fire ring attachment which will be very useful but I wish I had also bought the stabilizer to allow a bigger pot or frying pan to be used. The little pot that fits the trekker (Kelly Kettle Stainless Steel Small Cookset for Trekker) is likely to be a bit too small to be useful but will fit ramen or other soup and will be a good emergency solo cooking setup. If the manufacturer is looking for feedback, a small lightweight fireguard to put the firebase on would add a measure of safety in wildfire-prone areas.
